As human beings, it’s natural that we experience uncomfortable feelings at times. Sometimes, unhelpful thoughts and behaviours come to dominate our lives in ways we would never consciously choose.
This could be the result of depression, anxiety, or even the lingering effects of trauma, among other factors. When these thoughts and feelings become difficult to process, mindfulness counselling can offer a path forward.
Such negative thoughts may even lead us away from who and what are most important to us. My trauma based mindfulness counselling helps bring you back. I help clients with both mindful acceptance and mindful inquiry to free themselves from past hurts and constraints. My goals is to empower clients to live their lives in the ways that are most important and meaningful to them. If you’re struggling to manage negative thoughts and feelings, contact me today to learn more about mindfulness counselling and how it can help you.
Why mindfulness for depression is so important
Our mindfulness meditations weave experiential and compassionate practices into sessions on an as-needed basis, and only with your permission. We help you live in the present moment, with mindfulness-based stress reduction and mental health techniques to improve your everyday life.
I generally use mindfulness within the context of whatever other work we are doing. Mindfulness blends seamlessly into therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). It also lies at the heart of other treatments such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
Some clients choose to make mindfulness a focus of therapy that can be valuable as well.
Mindfulness practices are highly effective helping clients who are experiencing:
→ post-traumatic stress
Trauma sensitive mindfulness techniques are also helpful for clients experiencing developmental trauma and/or post-traumatic stress.
Integrated with therapy, mindfulness training and counselling are proven to be powerful tools to help you live the life you want to live.
